Copywrite: "Poorly Promote This" High & Mighty Diss

Copywrite

Can I let my inner backpacker live? Copywrite, The High & Mighty, The Weathermen man, that was my s**t in the early 2000's. Copywrite and The High & Mighty were right in the thick of the Rawkus Records explosion, and Copywrite maybe best known to the underground at large for his part on "B-Boy Document" also featuring Mos Def and Skillz. Anyway, his debut LP was put out with The High & Mighty, and yesterday he released an 8th Anniversary edition. I guess not everything remained copacetic over the last 8 years, and Copywrite has had some problems with his former label. The story goes:

"After over a year of trying to work with Mighty Mi to take T.H.E. High Exhaulted off of I tunes and getting no where, Copywrite has finally erupted. Copywrite had approached Milo over a year ago about wanting to re-release his debut album since there was never a formal contract between the two he felt there would be no issue. Milo however felt differently and would not give Copywrite permission to include a couple of the tracks that Milo had done production for on the re-release. Copywrite accepted that but insisted that T.H.E High Exhaulted be taken down off of I Tunes and anywhere else Milo might have it for sale. A year later Milo still has not done this. "Poorly Promote This" was born out of Copywrite's frustration with how Milo and Eon handled the promotion of his first record and the recent chatter that has been heard about him re-releasing his classic debut."

He explains more in the diss track located after the jump.

Toro Y Moi: "Leave Every Where" Video

Toro Y Moi

I was just thinking it was time for something new from Toro Y Moi when I found this unofficial video for "Leave Everywhere". Toro Y Moi's last album, Causers of This is still of my recent favorites, and I believe will only pick up steam in the summer months as beach weather kicks in everywhere. The video was made by Heidi Petty, and has the feel of those 1980's Sesame Street segments where they show kids walking around New York City. Check it out below.

The Morning Benders: "Cold War" (Wallpaper Remix)

Morning Benders

The Morning Benders are a California based band that I recently came across. I guess the term maybe lo-fi, but however you cut it, this is my speed right about now. They released a very mellow and melodic remix of their song "Cold War" that was done by the Oakland native Wallpaper. They also posted an unreleased track that was supposed to be on their album Big Echo, but did not make the cut. That song is called "Go Grab A Stranger" and it is equally dope and can be found at GorillavsBear, which is where I found all this stuff.

Kanye West: "Power" Potrait by George Condo

Power By George Condo

Kanye West added a new homepage to his website, and also posted the mixed and mastered version of "Power". The final track was accompanied by a portrait by George Condo that was inspired by the song, or perhaps it's the other way around. Either way, the finished product is upon us. Kanye also posted the original King Crimson track that "Power" samples. Listen to that, see the new stuff etc. all at Kanye's spot. Download the finished "Power" below.

Slum Village: "Faster" featuring Colin Munroe

Slum Village

Slum Village's "Faster" hit the internet last night and I didn't get a chance to properly post. The song is on Slum's forthcoming Villa Manifesto and produced by Young RJ. The song is smooth, and Munroe is an excellent addition to any hook. The song is uplifting and soulful, definitely a good look.
