Cut Chemist: "Adidas To Addis"

Cut Chemist is the type of dude where you may see him, underestimate him, and then say, 'damn... that dude is sick!' He really broke out as part of Jurassic 5, through his joints with DJ Shadow, and the overall west coast turntablism scene. There was a point in time in my life where all I was listening to was Cut Chemist and DJ Babu routines... Chemist, as his name indicates, is always cooking up new s**t and experimenting in the laboratory. In his newest concoction, the Chemist brings forth The Sound of The Police. The Sound... is a mix CD that Chemist started off as a live performance opening up for Mulatu Astatke as part of the "Timeless" series. While creating the set using one turntable, a mixer, a loop machine, and all vinyl records, Chemist thought the routine deserved to preserved and turned into a proper recording.
The first piece of music is "Adidas To Addis" and is available for free at Chemist's bandcamp page, and you can also preview it below.... Suckas.
Beck's Record Club: "Keys To Imagination"

I've written previously about Beck's Record Club, his routine of putting talent musicians together in the same room and recreating classic cuts. A new video has emerged from the Record Club, this one documenting the group's efforts to take on Yanni's "Keys To Imagination". For this Yanni joint (that I'm assuming most of you don't know), Beck dragged in Thurston Moore and Tortoise. See how it went down in the video below.
From The Shoebox: The World Record Holders LP

Here is something straight out of that shoebox of old cassette tapes and CDs. Its the equivalent of going through a forgotten pile of old baseball cards and finding that Albert Pujols rookie card you didn't think was very much at the time because you had no idea who Albert Pujols was... Anyway, I think you can all catch my drift. The Go Getters were a Chicago crew made up of artists such GLC, Kanye West, Timmy G, Arrowstar, Mikkey Halsted, Shayla G, Rhymefest and others. Their LP, World Record Holders was an underground classic, and is now available digitally. Download the near complete LP below. Props to FSD.
CS x LRG: "Turn It Up" feat. Outasight & Naledge (prod. DJ Babu)

Closed Sessions has teamed up with international clothing brand LRG for a new edition of the Closed Sessions series. The new sessions feature artists that match the aesthetics and style of both brands, while adding something original and authentic to music and culture. The first such sessions went down in Chicago with Warner Bros. recording artist, Outasight.
In between video shoots and finishing his debut album, Outasight came to the windy city for the Closed Sessions experience. Documented by RubyHornet.com, Outasight's trip included a photoshoot with Virgil Solis, a visit to WHPK's CTA Radio, a performance @SuperfunParty, and a Closed Session with Naledge of Kidz In The Hall at SoundScape Studio. Hit the jump to see the documentary, and visit the new Closed Sessions x LRG site for the behind the scenes pics and to download the song.

Bilal handles the bulk of production with some assistance from Steve McKie, Nottz, 88 Keys, Shafiq Husayn and Conley Whitfield. The full tracklist is below along with videos from Phonte and Q-Tip singing the praises of this soul singer.
