Kanye West: "The Joy" feat Pete Rock, Charlie Wilson, Curtis Mayfield, Jay-Z

The Joy

Better late than never.  This one dropped on Saturday, but I was busy interviewing Chromeo.  What were you doing?... Coincidentally, Dave 1 of Chromeo told us that he has a production credit on the Jay-Z and Kanye LP, Watch The Throne...  Coincidentally, this song features Jay-Z, so everything comes full circle.  "The Joy" also features Pete Rock, Curtis Mayfield, and Charlie Wilson, and many are calling it the best G.O.O.D. Friday jam thus far.  It is official.  Grab it below.

J. Cole: "I'm Coming Home"

We've been fortunate enough to receive a steady supply of J. Cole recently. A lot of his latest tracks have had some heavy-hitting instrumentals and vocals like "I'm On It" (cannot stop listening to this track). J. Cole goes in a bit of a different direction with this Alex Da Kid produced track. The track has more of a mainstream feel to it as Jermaine reflects on his musical experience and what it has meant to him. Even though he's blowing up and incredibly talented, this introspective track seems to indicate J. Cole hasn't let this success go to his head.  I have no idea who sings the chorus but the female vocalist sounds great. Pretty sure this is unfinished too. Make the jump to grab the track.

Edit: The female vocalist is Skylar Grey

Kid Cudi: "Marijuana" and "The End" feat GLC and Chip Tha Ripper

http://rubyhornet.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/cudi_mm.jpg

G.O.O.D Music releases a song every day. Haha, it definitely feels that way this fall, as Kanye an friends continue to push the envelope. Cudi is here with a leak off Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager, dropping November 9th. Hit the jump for the download.

Update: Just added "The End" which features Nicole Wray, GLC, and Chip Tha Ripper.  I swear I heard that Nicole Wray hook somewhere, but don't feel like searching for it.  I think maybe PJ played it for me...  Also, this is the verse that GLC recorded in Hawaii for Ye's album.  Hit that after the jump as well via Perajok.

CHI-Vanguard Photo Shoot: Phoenix

Virgil Solis

So a few months back we held a Digital Freshness called CHI-Vanguards where we collaborated with some of Chicago's fashion brands & boutiques (Code Of Conduct, Kustom Karats, Black Market Caviar & Anna Hovet) and we threw a party. Alongside the party we did a photo shoot to display the clothes and was also a big reason why we were all late that night, lol... But that's a different story. We released the BTS video a few weeks ago and this week we will be releasing the shoot with a little twist. Instead of putting out the whole shoot we will put out one model at a time and give you a little info about her so you guys can get to the know the brands and models better.

Code Of Conduct is located in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood and if anyone knows that area, it has lots of dope alleys. The moment I saw the alley next to COC, I wanted to do a shoot there. After talking with Michaela & Ari about the shoot we all put together some ideas for what we wanted to do. Ari & Michaela already had the direction for the way they wanted the girls to look, a very simple but urban style to really display the pieces they were wearing. I've always been fascinated with the different colors you can get when shooting down these alleys because you have different lights from warm colors to cool colors, and it lets you have options with the feel of the pic. I also brought one stationary light with me with a day light bulb to add any extra light if needed, and also to use as a prop in the background of shots. Ari & Michaela had a great idea to have one of their tattoo artists, Jeff, paint on the model's creating pseudo tats.

Phoenix was the second Model I shot that day and it's always great to work with her. I shot with Phoenix for the Kustom Karats Look Book a few months back and it was actually her birthday that day. From that shoot we already felt comfortable with each other and she was actually the easiest model to work with. Phoenix knows her body and facial expressions pretty well and really doesn't need too much direction, which is great.  I first shot her in front of this greenish/blue garage door that had this white with red lettering sign on it. It was a good contrast with her skin color and the dress she had on. I just used a flash to have a real spot light look to it. Jason Hoodrich came in for a couple shots with Phoenix and complemented her very well. For the second part (My favorite of all the locations we shot), I took her to this back entrance area that had a great light and a small set of stairs. With the extra light that I brought i was able to create this real dramatic lighting situation and still have the background of the shot lit by the other lights. This created great depth for the shots, and really are the best one for the whole shoot I feel. Hit the jump for the rest of the shots of Phoenix.
