Original Fake Chomp Belt
November 10, 2010Uncategorized

I'm really digging this Original Fake Chomp Belt, a nylon adjustable piece with the Chomp print all around. This is another dope KAWS piece to rock daily and available exclusively at Colette. The belt comes in 3 colorways red & whte, Purple, & Black. Check out more pics after the jump.
Smith Westerns: "Weekend"
November 10, 2010Uncategorized

I was a big fan of this Chicago band's initial release. It was dirty, raw, wore it's inspiration on its sleeve, essentially some of the best qualities of early punk. Its a winning formula when you can hear talent underneath trying to figure it all out. "Weekend" is the first track off the band's second full length, Dye It Blonde, and goes a long way to fulfilling the band's initial promise. "Weekend" is a much cleaner production, but doesn't change the core sound, just adds some clarity of thought.

Chromeo hit Chicago for a special Halloween show with DJ A-Trak, Kid Sister, and Theophilus London. After their soundcheck, we linked up Dave and P-Thugg for an interview. Between complimenting RH on our footwear, asking a ton of questions about the L.E.P. Bogus Boys, and talking about Golden Era Hip Hop, we got Dave and P to discuss their achievements over the years, their new music video for "Hot Mess", and future plans of a Chromeo x DJ A-Trak tour. Check it out in all it's glory below.

Illecism: "Akira"
November 10, 2010Uncategorized

Not just a boutique in Chicago, "Akira" is now the slow rolling Hip Hop jam from Illecism. Illec has been on a big roll lately, with his name buzzing throughout the web. And the kid can spit. The song has an old school sound that echoes back to the early 2000's golden era of the underground. Grab it below.
Joell Ortiz: "Happy Birthday Pun"
November 10, 2010Uncategorized

Yaowa! Joell Ortiz sends his bday wishes the dearly departed Big Punisher, and it sounds dope. In his short time, Big Pun made a very long-lasting impact on Hip Hop music and is on many a "best emcee" list. Admittedly, I can not get down with some of the things Pun did off the mic, but just as Ty Cobb remains a Hall of Famer, Pun lays amongst the best and is hopefully ciphering with Pac, Biggie, and Big L about now.
J. Cole: "Before I'm Gone"
November 10, 2010Uncategorized

J. Cole took to his Twitter page to unleash another new joint from his forthcoming Friday Night Lights mixtape. The full mixtape will be released on Friday, and "Before I'm Gone" is a starry number complete with "ohhs", erry keys, and the same from-the-bottom driven raps that have made J. Cole a promising emcee and future torch bearer. Grab it below.
