Rockie Fresh Speaks on Performing with Patrick Stump and The Otherside

At 7PM Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump will take the stage at Schubas for what will be the first of two solo performances at the small Chicago venue.  Joining Patrick Stump will be Rockie Fresh, a bubbling windy city emcee who has garnered national praise following the 2010 release of his sophomore mixtape, The Otherside.  The mixtape made its rounds across music sites, and Rockie picked up new fans, including one in Stump who mentioned Rockie on Twitter and later invited him into the studio.  Tonight will be Fresh’s first time performing with The Fallout Boy frontman- while the band is on hiatus, Stump said he “would be very, very surprised if we don’t do another record again”- and he is looking forward to reconnecting with Stump, who he first met out in L.A.

Rockie spoke to RubyHornet about how the two met saying, “we recorded together recently in LA. We linked up over twitter actually. One day he tweeted about Otherside, and a few weeks later when I was in LA for All Star Weekend he hit me up to link up and make some music. I’ve always been a big Fall Out Boy fan, and Patrick is big on hip-hop as well. He has worked with Lupe, Gym Class Heroes, and a whole bunch of others so it was definitely a blessing to get to know him and work with him.

Rockie also told us that he’s happy with the success thus far of The Otherside, calling it “a major milestone in my career.”  Not resting on his laurels, Fresh is currently working on a re-up of the project with new songs, remixes, and some special features in the form of The Otherside Redux.  Fresh said, “it will be a full project with remixes, new records, and tracks that didn’t make the initial project. You can expect a Lil B apperance, another track with Casey Veggies, and the rest I’ll keep as a surprise for now, but expect big things.”

Doors open at Schubas at 7PM both tonight and Monday.
