“Arresting our own development” – Malcom London

Here’s a new track from poet/emcee Malcolm London, he recorded with fellow YCA, Saba titled “Change Gone Come” . He writes “A poem addressing Chicago and the situation with its young, particularly its black youth. With violence at a heartbreaking steady increase, with police locking up brown and black men at extremely high rates, shooting them down and judges giving sentences longer than them young folk can read , with school systems that fail young people and the graduation rate at 50%, with mayor rahm fucking over public education and with no hope in site, I wrote this. A change is going to come, but “change doesn’t come just because you’re begging for it.” Hit the jump to stream and lookout for the Young Chicago Authors at The Metro this Thursday.
