Plaid

Whoever thought plaid was only for preppy school girls was wrong. Whoever thought wearing plaid was rendered to those individuals who like role playing during…blank was wrong. However, I am not to judge- I too never would’ve thought to make what I wore in my grade school years at a catholic institution a fashion of my own. But for your wardrobe purposes, you must now know that this youthful, standardized outfit has emerged to a sophisticated, innovative piece of wear that is one of the focal trends this fall.

Fashion designers have taken plaid seriously this upcoming season and their seriousness has been measured by the availability of plaid in all types of clothing including jackets, dresses, pants, and accessories, not just skirts. A jacket in plaid print is such a classic look, and since plaid is usually in style in the fall, buying a plaid jacket this season will probably last you a few more years.

And for you dress lovers, there is also the plaid dress that can be paired with cute flats and bare legs while it’s still warm out, and even layered with jewel-tone opaque tights and a simple cardigan when fall rolls around- this ensemble will be a great transition to your wardrobe.

Now, for the fashion risk takers, consider picking up a pair of plaid pants, especially of the skinny variety.  Make sure you keep the rest of your outfit simple. Try wearing your plaid skinnies with solid-colored tops, and pairing them with ballet flats or ankle boots.

Check out these fun plaid collections I thought were dressed in an innovative way…
