[Interview] The Hood Internet: Side Projects
RubyHornet: Chicago has caught a lot of national attention for our Hip Hop scene this year, any new favorites coming out of the crib?
Hood Internet: King Louie’s “Val Venis” is a certified jam. ShowYouSuck has been releasing lots of heat. Supreme Cuts did a crazy production job on that Haleek Maul Chrome Lips tape.
RubyHornet: Several years since, is The Broken Social Scene and R. Kelly mashup still The Hood Internet’s flagship song? If not what is?
Hood Internet: I think we still cite that as the most representative of the Hood Internet style. But hopefully we can start referencing the tracks from FEAT instead. I think the song “Won’t Fuck Us Over” we made with BBU & Annie Hart, that’s a good encompassing example of Hood Internet right now.
RubyHornet: If there is one thing about the album you want listeners to take from it, that is different from your past releases and live shows, what is it?
Hood Internet: We just want people to enjoy the songs as songs. We worked with some super talented artists from all over the music sphere and we’re super proud of every track.
