[Interview] The Hood Internet: Side Projects
RubyHornet: Does indie rock x Hip Hop influence a Hood Internet sample free production?
Hood Internet: When making the music and choosing the collaborators for FEAT, we really wanted to try and make all the songs sound like something that Hood Internet might have posted on our website anyway.
RubyHornet: While touring in the electronic scene for some time now, you’ve seen a bunch of shifts in what’s hot (electro, dubstep, moombah, trap). Yet, without changing your style too much y’all have remained relevant. What’s the trick?
Hood Internet: A lot of the tracks that we blend for the website are relatively new releases. So as music changes, so does what we decide to sample.
RubyHornet: You recently toured with Tanya Morgan & Psalm One in Cali. Was that the first tour with mainly Hip Hop acts? Do you prefer a specific genre for a tour?
Hood Internet: 2012 has been a great year for touring. In May we toured with Star Slinger and Chrissy Murderbot, so that was an all-DJ tour. Summer was with Psalm and Tanya Morgan, which was our first tour with all Hip Hop artists as support. And now we’re on this tour with Body Language, My Gold Mask and Oscillator Bug, which are all bands. We try to keep our touring partners as diverse as the music we sample.
