RubyHornet:  We’re at the Lap of Lux release party here tonight and it’s obviously about Sir Michael Rocks, but you chose to bring in some other cats to rock the show with you tonight. Why was that?

Sir Michael Rocks: I like to put on with my guys that are doing well out here too, in the city. Bring in more cats that represent what I do, and who fit that mold. I saw an opportunity to bring some of my homies on and rock with me at the show, and I think that’s a good look. Because, I feel that everyone performing here tonight can be a star in their own right, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing them rock too.

RubyHornet: Right, and it seems like you’re sort of acting as an uncle, asking them if they want booze or whatever before the show.

Sir Michael Rocks: Haha yeah man. Them little guys, they can’t even get on the rooftop party because they ain’t 21 and shit.

RubyHornet: Yeah, it seems like you’re sort of taking on that role. Do you feel like there was anyone like that for you, when you we’re coming up?

Sir Michael Rocks:  Na. Not so much, man. Not so much really, man. I was already an OG when I was their age. I came in and all the older cats were talking to me like I was their peer. But that’s not a bad thing. I matured early and I already asserted myself as somebody who was going to take the wheel on this. So not really. I mean, Chuck is older than me, but that’s like my brother too though. I feel like as far as the music goes, there wasn’t anyone holding my hand like that. I had a lot of peers that were supportive, and we all wanted to see each other win, we all had advice for each other.  I used to wish there was somebody who would come help me out and school me to some game, but as I got a little older, I was like ‘damn, I guess I’m supposed to be teaching that to others. I guess I already knew it.’

RubyHornet:  When did that you figure that out?

Sir Michael Rocks:  After me and Chuck first started popping.  I was like ‘I guess I’m supposed to be the one. I guess I’m supposed to be the one to pass on the game because nobody else is going to give people the edge and advice on sh*t I already did and let them know how to do it before you make a mistake. I used to wish there was somebody to school me to that sh*t.  Luckily I was smart enough to make the right decisions and not really fall for mistakes. Now that there is someone new who could use my help, I want to give them help. Especially if they’re cool and on some fresh sh*t.  I want to see them win. I want to see this state of mind continue, so I’m going to keep pushing it forward.
