Last week we examined Hip Hop music's potential effect on Barack Obama's run for president (click here). But what about the other way around? Great music often comes at times of great change, as well as unrest, and at least one person believes that Barack Obama's potential presidency will have a positive impact on the music world. That person is accomplished film director Spike Lee, who recently told contactmusic.com: "I believe artists have to lead the way. The same way as in the turbulent 60s... that music reflected both the difficult times we were going through and the enthusiasm and optimism we had, too. And I think Obama is going to have the same effect on African-American artists—and it's needed." Bill Clinton resided over two albums by the Fugees, Ready To Die, the best of the Rawkus era, and classics by Nas and Jay-Z. Bush did happen to be in office during LP's from Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco, but he was also there for "Laffy Taffy" and the full catalogue from Dem Franchize Boys (wamp, wamp).
