YP

Song: “Who I Be” (Clap) prod. by Xtreme
Mixtape: Still Awake
Released: 2011

This may be YP’s most popular song to date, and is usually the livest at his live show (which has improved greatly) – especially when opening for Three-Six Mafia earlier this summer. The catchy song most likely had a lot to with YP’s signing to Universal Republic with it’s radio appeal.

Song: “The Comeup” (Prod. By Jeff Wallace)
Mixtape: Still Awake
Released: 2011

YP showed he can get funky with the best of them, going in on this Jeff Wallace producer joint that pays homage to the Godfather of Soul.  You can’t wrong with James Brown, and YP does an excellent job of giving some game to those paying close attention.

Song: “Get Wit Us” Feat. Lil’ Durk  (prod. by Nascent)
Mixtape: Sleepwalking
Released: 2012

Having been part of Chicago’s “Drill” scene longer than it has been at the forefront of our overarching Hip-Hop scene, YP linked with rising star Lil’ Durk along with one of the Chi’s most versatile producers, Nascent, for this banger. Get wit them.

Song: “Ya Hear Me” (prod. by Fly Fella)
Mixtape: Sleepwalking
Released: 2012

With commentary from fellow eastsider and revered Chicago emcee Sly Polaroid, YP emits why he is one of the cities best story tellers, taking us through the day-to-day of the rising emcee on the streets of Chicago. “And all my records making noise like the Blue Man Group”.
