Beastie Boys: Live From Reading ’98
In 1998 the Beastie Boys released their 5th proper studio LP, Hello Nasty. The release was accompanied by the In The Round world tour featuring A Tribe Called Quest, as well as a series of festival dates. While the Beasties had 5 LPs at that time, as well as a handful of sanctioned remix, unreleased, and instrumental material, my own Beastie collection was more than 20 discs deep, including multiple live shows. At the top of my live collection sits this performance from England’s Reading Festival in 1998. Adrock, Mike D, MCA, and Mix Master Mike run through all the classics such as “Shake Your Rump,” “So Whatcha Want,” “Intergalactic,” as well as album cuts “Flute Loop,” and “Time For Living” in a tremendously live fashion.
